Anastasia Pippa Firestone. 17. Straight. Human. Ksenia Solo;
S T R E N G T H S +Poker Face – She is very good at keeping her emotions hidden. She refuses to let anyone see her suffer, or cry. She will not be viewed as weak, and she has developed an excellent skill for this. It also works well when she is lying. However, the chink in her bullet proof armor is when she is around people she loves or cares about. She cannot stand the thought of people she cares about lying to her, it is equally bad if she is lying to them. She is a terrible liar around loved ones. +Realistic – Anastasia sees the world for exactly what it is, harsh, cold, and brutal. It keeps her grounded, and motivated to keep pushing forward. She rarely gets her hopes up, and usually expects for things to go badly. This keeps her prepared, and her emotions in check. +Survivor – She has grown accustom to doing things others see their self as ‘above’, she will do whatever it takes to survive. Her main motivator is self-preservation. If it wasn’t she most likely would have died a long time ago. +Street Smart – She has been around long enough to know how to get things she wants, or come across things she needs. Most people merely survive on the streets, but she always manages to find a way to thrive. No matter how many times she keeps having to pack up her life and start over. +Handy – Growing up on her own, she taught herself how to do mostly everything. Years of trial and error have made her an excellent handy woman, and she can repair almost anything given time and tools. This ranges from cars to dishwashers. +Loyal – Only to those rare people she loves and cares about. Her fierce loyalty is a rare and hard earned thing, and she doesn’t give it out freely. Once her trust is broken with someone it is near impossible to repair. Everyone she has tried to trust in the past has hurt her, and she never forgets.. +Thief – She has mastered the art of breaking and entering, and pick pocketing. This is a skill she is fond of, because it means she has a way to get quick and easy cash from time to time whenever she needs it. +Good Instincts –She can read subtle signs, and pick up on almost invisible tells. This makes her a damn good poker player. She is good at sorting out good people from bad, even if she doesn’t always pay attention. +Confident – In her abilities. She knows what she is capable of, and what is impossible for her. She knows her limits, and understands her strengths and weaknesses better than most people. She knows who she is, and she is aware of her flaws. She might not love it, but she accepts who she is. W E A K N E S S E S +Loner – Because of her trust issues and her ability to hear the thoughts of others she prefers to be alone. It gives her quiet and peace, but it is slowly making her draw in on herself and shun the world around her. She is very closed off from the world around her. +Esteem Issues – Growing up as just one of many, she never viewed herself as special. She was never loved, or given the emotional support she desperately needed. She believes that others are truly better than her. When people say nice things to her, she writes it off as they are just wanting something from her. +Trust Issues – She refuses to believe anyone about anything. Everyone lies. +Self-Sacrificing – Anastasia is a difficult friend to acquire, but once she cares about you then she is likely to do anything in the world for you. She would jump in front of a bullet to save someone she loved, and not think twice. She believes that she is beneath others, and that her life is not as precious as theirs is. She is a survivor at heart, and will never give up, except in the place of someone she loves. This makes her weak, and an easy target. +Physically Weak – She has no strength, or abilities to fight or protect herself. She will go down swinging in a fit of rage and bash the person with the nearest object that is not nailed down, but she will go down. She can run fast, but she is no match for anyone. +Not Book smart – School was a waste of time for her. Sure she can do basic math, and read, but beyond that she never cared much for useless knowledge such as who was the first president. She cared more about things that would affect her current real life. She is intelligent and street smart, but she knows little else. +Being Told ‘No’ – She takes it as a challenge, and it only encourages her to do the exact thing she was told not to do. This puts her in danger, and could potentially end up getting her killed if someone told her not to do something for her own personal safety. She is defiant down to her very core, and will fight tooth and nail just to prove someone wrong. +Emotionally Fragile – She rarely shows it, but her feelings do get hurt a lot and often. Deep inside she longs for someone she can trust, and that will be there for her, but she knows there is a slim to none chance of this happening. She will never cry in front of someone, but she will sob herself to sleep. The loneliness gets to her from time to time. +Numb – She has heard it all, literally. Finding out shocking news about others has little effect on her, nothing really surprises her anymore. Husband killed wife, mother murdered baby, it all comes and goes. This includes sexual stuff, she has been there, heard that, and threw up about it. Nothing fazes her. L I K E S +Cars +Tools +Food +Clothes +Shoes +Cooking +Card Games +When people are unaware +Protecting those she loves +Feeling needed D I S L I K E S +Authority +Romance +Drama +Not feeling challenged +Standing out +Being lied to +Happily ever afters – lies +Learning new things +Starting over +Technology H I S T O R Y When Anastasia was born, she was the gem of her grandmother’s life. Her grandmother took care of her, and did everything for her until she died when Anastasia was six years old. Then she was forced to live with her drug addict mother. By the age of seven, it was Anastasia who was cooking and cleaning the house, and making sure her mother ate. She became cold and bitter, after her mother started leaving her for days at a time with no food in the house. She became completely self-sufficient as long as she stole some money out of her mother’s purse every now and then to keep food hidden and stockpiled in the house. Her mother beat her often for taking her drug money, that was when she was in her right mind to realize that it had gone missing in the first place. Anastasia got tough from the experience. Even tougher after her mom started bringing home boyfriends. Two of them attempted to force themselves on her, but they left soft, bloody, and bruised. Anastasia learned not to trust anyone or let anyone into her life and let them hurt her. Anastasia was picked on for always having less than the other kids at school, but it never bothered her. Not after everything else she had been through. She learned to be creative and express herself in different ways. She embraced the fact that she was different and wore her flaws like a shield so no one could ever hurt her. Anastasia is a very closed off girl, and she prefers to keep to herself whenever she can. She also sees her own species as vile and cruel. She tries to distance herself from her humanity as much as possible, to make it easier to cope with how the world is. She does not see the world as good or evil, and she merely does what she deems fit for getting herself ahead in life. Her moral compass points directly towards the way to keep herself alive. She does whatever is necessary for self-preservation. It is hard for her to make friends, so she tries to cling to those few she deems as decent enough. She comes off as tough, and for the most part she is. When she is not punching you, stealing your wallet, or hot-wiring your car and taking off. She is very aware of her flaws, but she does not feel guilty about it. She is a survivor at her core, and nothing will get in her way. She carefully chooses her battles, and is not above running from something if she knows it will put her in danger. She looks out for herself before anyone else. She has never been in love, and is unsure what she would do if she ever had the misfortune. She is quite handy, years of having to take care of herself have made her self-reliant and handy with tools. She has never needed to hire anyone to fix anything for her, she has enough experience and logic reasoning to repair things on her own. This talent extends to cars. On and off she has worked as a mechanic in those random few months of her life where she has attempted to make an honest living. The other job that she is well suited for is being a waitress. She has a quick memory and can usually anticipate people’s needs. However, that does mean she has to actually deal with people and that is not one of her strengths. She is not a people person. She has a short temper and a complete lack of patience. One of the few things that Anastasia really enjoys is cooking, maybe just for herself or for other people. She grew up having to feed herself, and she took this time to experiment with what works and what does not. She is not going to waste time putting garnishes on your plate, and it might not look pretty, but it will be one of the best meals you have ever eaten. From time to time on the rare occasion that Anastasia attempts to make a friend, cooking for them will be one of the signs that she considers someone friend material. Anastasia is very good at ‘reading’ people, she uses this to her advantage in card games. She does not look very intelligent, and people often make the mistake of underestimating her. She sees this as a bonus, stupid people are easier to rip off. She is very good at keeping her emotions hidden. She knows who she is, and she is aware of her flaws. She might not love it, but she accepts who she is. She is loyal but only to those rare people she loves and cares about. Her fierce loyalty is a rare and hard earned thing, and she doesn't give it out freely. Once her trust is broken with someone it is near impossible to repair. Everyone she has tried to trust in the past has hurt her, and she never forgets. Anastasia is not comfortable with computers, or most forms of technology that cannot be used to watch TV or cook. She is not really a fan of authority and the internet makes it too easy for other people to find people that don’t want to be found. She likes to blend in with the crowd as much as possible, and tries not to draw too much attention to herself. This is something she struggles to keep in balance with her unusual clothing style. Anastasia is a simple girl who just wants things to stay the same. She hates change, and in a world full of change, she is struggling. She does not believe in happily ever afters, or fairy-tales. She is a very down to earth person who has a realistic view of the world. Above all things Anastasia hates being lied to. Once her trust is broken it can never be fully recovered. She takes it as a personal blow and it devastates her. If she is willing to make the effort to trust someone and risk putting herself out there then she expects the same amount of respect in return. School is a waste of time for her. Sure she can do basic math, and read, but beyond that she never cared much for useless knowledge such as who was the first president. She cared more about things that would affect her current real life. She is intelligent and street smart, but she knows little else. She has gotten a few after school jobs for a little extra money, but she is not well suited to be around people. From time to time she does a little extra work as a mechanic under the table when the owner of the garage gets overwhelmed and needs an extra pair of hands. More recently she has mastered the art of breaking and entering, and pick pocketing. This is a skill she is fond of, because it means she has a way to get quick and easy cash from time to time whenever she needs it. She has no strength, or abilities to fight or protect herself. She will go down swinging in a fit of rage and bash the person with the nearest object that is not nailed down, but she will go down. She can run fast, but she is no match for anyone. She takes being told ‘no’ as a challenge and it only encourages her to do the exact thing she was told not to do. She is defiant down to her very core, and will fight tooth and nail just to prove someone wrong. She has witnesses so much pain, cruelty, and suffering in the world. She has suffered enough herself. After a while she has become numb to it all. She just wants to find someone to make her believe that the world is not all bad. ___________________________________________ Anastasia unwrapped her burger with a sly grin. Getting an obscene amount of bacon added had cost her a friendly smirk and a few quick batts of her eyelashes. The young cook had told her he fancied her on more than one occasion, but Anastasia couldn’t even remember his name. He was just ‘bacon guy.’ Getting the cashier to ‘accidentally’ forget to charge her for the entire meal had cost her a bit more than a cheap smile and a wink. It cost her a bit of her dignity. Talking to the man whose name-tag read Frank was a few steps below dull. She feigned interest in his favorite band, and made small talk as her food cooked. She wished she was busty so all she would need to do would be jiggle and play brain dead. She did not have that luxury. She thought talking to them was actually more degrading. When it came to free food vs. morals, the food was going to win every time. That was what this game was all about, eating and surviving another day. Even if it wasn’t right or technically legal. Not that she ever had problems with those lines before; the world was nothing more than a huge gray area. Conning others was how she got by. She was poorly suited for anything else. If she were to go to a psychiatrist, he would tell her she was this way because of childhood trauma and lack of a prominent father figure. Her drugged out abusive mother was the root of her self-esteem issues. And that losing her grandmother, who was the only stable person in her life, at a young age had been her ultimate undoing and had set her down her current path. She knew all of this and she did not need to pay and old guy with glasses, and a comfy couch a small fortune to tell her this. Anastasia never felt superior to anyone but she never felt low enough to let anyone simply walk all over her. She had never been one to have an inflated ego, she knew exactly who she was, and what she was. There was never any room for anything that was not an absolute, honest fact; she had no room to waste in her cluttered head for stupid things such as lies. She had always felt that her keen self-awareness had made her different somehow, not better, just different. She understood her flaws and weaknesses with perfect clarity. She knew herself inside and out, and that was more than most people could say that were twice her age. She had no illusions about herself, and she knew exactly what she was capable of. If she were to meet a man on the street with a tie and a briefcase she would accept that he was probably a lot smarter than her, and his life would always be better then hers. Society would always place him above her and rightfully so. However, Anastasia would see this man as a perfect target, and this perfect man would be the one missing his wallet. It wasn’t pretty, but it was how the world worked. He would go to work and make up for whatever cash he lost, and she would have a few dollars to her name. Anastasia was humble and any self-esteem she had was hard fought for and well earned. She finished her burger, snacked on her fries for a few more precious moments until alas they were devoured. In the end all that was left was her drink. She intended to make it last as long as possible. Every now and then she plucked out an ice cube to crunch on, simply for something to do. It was too early to go home, but too late to do much else. Kenzie,. 24. Decade. |
