the species. This species description is put in place to assist members and guests alike in being aware of how each of the different species offered operates in the world of Wild at Heart. This site is based on the Whedonverse/Buffyverse, and if you haven't seen either Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Angel, then that is still okay. This is where this species guide comes in, to ensure you aren't confused by the concepts here. Being a site based around the concepts of the Whedonverse means species will relate directly to what was offered there, but some originality can be added to, but it cannot completely tarnish what we are based upon. That means, no sparkly twilight vampires (no offence), no teen wolf vampires, no secret circle witches, no vampire diaries vampires and no true blood vampires. Influence can be taken from them, but they are different from the species offered here, as you will notice when you continue reading. humans. I know what you're thinking. Why are you including humans in a species description? No, I'm not making fun of your intelligence, I just think it is a necessary inclusion. As you may notice in the Canons, the only humans we really have advertised are students, friends of students or family of students. Why? Because this site is based during high school time, and we are trying to allow the most out of every member here by having enough people to roleplay with. There's no point being a human astronaut if there are no humans in similar positions, etc, right? Don't think that you have to be involved with the school though to roleplay here. Its just a lot of the focus is on the school and how the teens grow up and develop with the threat of the supernatural interfering. There is still another world out there. I'm not going to include a separate heading for hunters, because unless there is something I'm missing, hunters are humans. Hunters are rare, and I don't need a gazillion hunters lurking around. Could you imagine watching Buffy with people in the school hunting vampires in their spare time? Takes away from the people who are actually doing the hunting, you know, the slayers. This isn't a Supernatural RP (you know what I mean there), and if you are a hunter there must be a real reason for it. Most hunters are born into it, they don't just wake up wanting to be a hunter one day. They are only human, may know a lot more but they are still stuck with the human weaknesses and please don't make them out to be anything more than they are. Hunters are cool, but they would struggle to take down a newly hatched from the grave vampire, unless they have YEARS of experience. Hunters strengths are in using their intelligence and flaunting the weaknesses of vampires. They don't just jump into a fist fight with a vampire, they use weapons and they use their environment. That's where their strength is. Its what makes them cool and unique. vampire slayers. Unless you have seen the show, you probably think these are just regular hunters destined to fight vampires. They aren't. "Into every generation a slayer is born, and only she has the power to fight the darkness and yadi yadi ya..." you get it. Slayers are always female, and there is always one unless some unforseen circumstance occurs. Once a slayer dies, another slayer is called to take her place and be trained in the battle. They receive prophetic dreams, which are usually vague and flashy. Please don't be confused, they aren't visions or premonitions. Slayers may also have a psychic link with another slayer (if there happened to be two). They also possess superhuman strength, durability, speed, reflexes, senses, regeneration. They are easily able to take out vampires, but an aged and experienced vampire may be able to take out a slayer with ease. Potential slayers, although not introduced/allowed at this time, are women who are born with the potential to be a slayer, and when the active slayer dies, it may be them who are called. Think of it as a contest to get onto that reality show, only once you get there you realize you are less human and have evil beings knocking at your door. They are trained to be slayers and do possess enhanced reflexes and capabilities of a human, though nowhere near that of a slayer. male slayer. One of the kinks of this site to make it unique to the rest is of the inclusion of a male slayer into the world of Midnight Harbour. Many centuries ago, a trio of African shamans, referred to as the Shadow Men, empowered a girl with the essence of a powerful demon. From then on, into every generation a girl was chosen to recieve the power of the slayer. What wasn't known was that these Shadow Men also empowered a young boy with the essence of a different demon. Not only was it a worse demon, but it was a more powerful demon. The boy lost his grasp of reality altogether. The darkness of the demon overpowered the little humanity that remained. The demon infected boy went on a killing spree, taking the lives of many innocents. Realizing their mistake, the trio bound the boy with the strongest magic’s they could combine, and destroyed him. They then formed the Watcher's Council, never to speak of what they created ever again. The Shadow Men created the destiny of a female, completing ignoring that of the male creation. 'One girl in all the world, a Chosen One.' But what they failed to realize, was that in destroying the boy, they set in motion a future of similar instances. Unlike female slayers, a male slayer wasn't called into every generation, when a slayer was killed in battle. Phoenix Wolfe came into this destiny as a result of being chosen by the Powers that Be as a warrior to help the other slayer, Janelle O'Hara, with the great evil forming in Midnight Harbour. And this only happened due to having a twin sister, who had the potential to be a slayer had she lived past birth. Due to the twin bond, Phoenix inherited this potential, allowing the means for a male slayer to come back into existence. vampires. Vampires have strengths on the level of the slayer including superhuman strength, durability, regeneration, speed, senses. They are immortal, meaning they will not age and the only way to kill them is by slicing off their head, chucking a lot of holy water on them, direct sunlight, fire or a stake to their heart. Squashing them would probably work too. They have senses well above that of a slayer, meaning they can track foes due to their amazing smell of scents. They have better hearing too, as they are predators. They look human and can morph into their vampiric form at will or when blood is present which can automatically trigger the change. In order to feed they need to be in vampiric form for their fangs. They do not have speed of light, mental abilities etc (unless you discuss it with me prior). There has to be a good reason for them to have this. watchers. Watchers spend years at the Watcher Academy to study theory and learn combat in order to prepare them for training a slayer if they are assigned one. They are usually good in combat, and have lots of knowledge on vampires, slayers, demons and events. witches. Witches are humans with magical powers who are born into a magical family, whether that be directly or through ancestors, with magic running in the family in some way. When they start out, they can barely levitate a pencil, which is what most practice on to improve on their focus and powers. As they grow stronger their powers advance, such as casting spells and incantations. It is only at a highly experienced level which most witches cannot get to that level, that they can teleport or other powerful magical spells and incantations. Please keep in mind limitations for witches, I will be really be cracking down on this to make sure no character is overstepping their limits at that time. Especially on witches who are powerful in magic and good in combat as well. Stick with one or the other unless there are other reasons which you can talk with me about. Then there is magical users; those who are not magical through their ancestors but are able to learn magic through texts. They can use passive magic more easily, such as spells and incantations, which everyone is able to join in with. However there are others who are able to actively use magic for offensive purposes. However they are not naturally as powerful as those born with magic in their blood. They also have limitations to certain spells and can reach nowhere near the powerful heights of witches. druids. Druids are an ancient magical line, in many ways similar to the wiccan line, but harness their powers through the elements around them and their environment. They are in essence of same powers of witches, but draw them from different places. They can therefore move things with their mind and develop these powers into more advanced ones. They don't read spells, but runes as their magical source and the nemeton is their power supply, with one being in Midnight Harbour to which these druids are at their most powerful. werewolves. Werewolves are just regular humans who have been bitten and then on a full moon will transform into a werewolf. They are not able to do so at will, only on these days. And it is completely uncontrollable for them. In their werewolf form they are transformed, and have superhuman senses, speed and strength. They are no longer in control of their mind as the animal within takes over. There are no alphas or packs or anything like that. Also, in their human form they are just regular humans who can smell other werewolves, but other than that have no added bonuses. Their main weakness, other than uncontrollable shifting on a full moon is mountain ash, which acts as a ward preventing them from passing. It can also be used to harm them, as in the can be affected by its touch, though lesser effect than say a vampire with holy water. demons. When it comes to demons, you can be as creative as you wish, as long as it comes within limitations. Most demons appear in human form either with demonic characteristics present or can transform into their demon form. Demons also have powers related to their species type, with the most well known demon type being vengeance demons. Many demons possess superhuman strength, durability, as well as any other special abilities. Please discuss with us your demon ideas prior to making the character. Check out Here for whedonverse demons you are able to freely use. gifted. Gifted humans are extremely rare and will be tightly accepted. They are regular humans who through some deeply explained reason are able to possess a particular power or ability. The most common ones are telekinesis or invisibility. |
