It was becoming one of those days, where a hot chocolate would be the perfect solution to end her day. Well, not really end, as she still had a lot of work to catch up on tonight, which is due in like three weeks. She just couldn't help herself, really. It wasn't like she had anything better to do with her time, she barely had any friends, and if fighting vampires all day was going to be something she would be consumed with, she'd rather let Janelle handle that stuff and she can be 'cool, research girl' and help out with that kind of fun stuff. She loved reading, so any excuse to open up a dusty ol' book full of demons and vampire blood and guts was good for her! Though she couldn't deny she was getting the best handle of everything which had happened. She was getting there, but just the shock of finding out about vampires and all that kind of stuff, it was a lot to take in. She needed to process everything. And the best way of doing that, was occupying herself with books until she was comfortable with the whole shadig. She hated having to lie to her parents when they asked why she had a bruised arm, to which she had to make up the excuse that she fell over onto the concrete. She was surprised they believed it, actually.

Sitting down at a table with hot chocolate in hand, with extra marshmallows might she add, she begun opening up her human anatomy textbook and begun to look through it all. She took a sip from her coffee, smiling deliciously at the chocolate influx. She stole a marshmallow from the glass and bit on it tenderly as she flicked through some of the pages and begun to job down some notes from the text. She had two books open in front of her, people were probably thinking she was in college or something. It did feel good, people knowing or assuming that she was smart. Since it was her finest quality, she might as well use that to her advantage. Her less finer qualities, including making a fool of herself or being a social outcast, everyone also probably knew, but hopefully the being smart thing was more of what they thought of when they saw her in the school corridors.

She widened her eyes and turned to see a couple at one of the tables, not because they were a couple and that was what she craved or anything, but because she could sense the guys...Oh, she didn't even want to say it! She could sense the guy's "excitement" downstairs. She opened her mouth slightly, before turning back towards her books. This wasn't fair! Why did she have to feel those kinds of things, how were they helpful? If someone was sad, she could help them out, but if they are excited? She didn't have a spray bottle handy at the moment. She sighed, as she rested her hand on her left hand and continued jotting down some notes, trying to override these emotions from her head. Wasn't there an "off" button for these kind of things? If there was, she needed one right now.

The last time Avery had been to the Expresso Pump, he had been ordering for two. A pumpkin spice java Frappuccino for his date, Sara Brewer, and a cinna swirl coffee cake for himself because he couldn’t stand the taste of coffee. Avery had had a crush on Sara for quite some time, and he had decided to finally ask her out to a movie and coffee afterwards just as a way to really get to know her more and spend some quality time with her. It had been a big mistake from the very beginning. Avery had picked her up in his black jeep wrangler, and as a way of being a gentleman, decided it would probably be a good idea to open the door for her. But of course, the door would get jammed when he was trying to be smooth. After a few quick yanks, Avery had been able to get the door open, but who knew Sara would be standing right there in the way of the door? Who knew that Avery had had the worst luck ever, and his date would literally get attacked by HIS jeep wrangler passenger side window? And who knew that the date would just get even worse from there. Like when they got to the movie and Avery bought popcorn and used the butter pump to add as much butter as possible into the theater popcorn bowl, and the butter just happened to shoot onto Sara’s adorable white lace cover up. And when Avery brought Sara her Frappuccino, and had no clue that she was actually allergic to pumpkin.

The date had been a complete and utter disaster. In fact, it had been so bad that he had never heard from Sara Brewer again, which was probably for the best anyways. Not like Avery could ever show his face to her again without him thinking about the embarrassment that he had caused himself that night. So, even after all that craziness, why now was he standing in the line at the coffee shop for a caramel Frappuccino? Avery sighed as he scanned the room full of people. Some of them were couples laughing with each other while holding eachothers’ hands. Some of them were students from Midnight Harbour high getting together for meetings or after school clubs or committees. Some were even working on homework and using the social surrounding of the coffee shop to motivate them enough to finish their assignments. He was there because he actually missed it all. Missed what he had before his life had changed forever.

“Here ya go,” The woman at the counter said.

Avery nodded at her, being able to muster somewhat of a smile as he took the drink from her hand and headed over to a table somewhat out of range of a lot of people. The place had been pretty packed, so it wasn’t like he could find somewhere where no one was around him. The table he had chosen was right across from a red head he had seen multiple times before. He plopped down, allowing his backpack to slip from his shoulders and occupy the seat next to him. Avery set the drink down and fished into his bookbag for his human anatomy book. Setting it on the table in front of him, he opened the book to the chapter he had been going over in class.

She gripped her cup more tightly, the feelings of excitement and lust in the air were overpowering her for the moment. She coughed gently, then looking back down at her book to try and focus her mind and attention elsewhere. What was the saddest about this whole situation, was that she was experiencing these emotions of excitement and arousal from someone else, and that she wasn't able to feel that kind of thing first-hand for herself. It really was true, how it was a blessing and a curse. Instead of doing these things, she was sitting there and feeling these things first hand. And it was rather distracting. She should of remembered not to come into public places like these when trying to study. But she didn't think a coffee shop of all places would be so full of...Hormonal teenagers. Guess she underestimated the people in Midnight Harbour, in particular, the students that were enrolled in Midnight Harbour High.

However the feelings of lust started to die down, and she just assumed the couple had finally left and she could get some peace and hormonal quietness. But then she looked only to realize that the couple were still there, but some other emotions were overriding the lust. What kind of emotions would be overriding that?! She looked up to see a familiar face sit at a table in front of her, placing his bag on the seat next to him. She looked on for a moment, but didn't even have to look to feel what this man was going through. He was feeling nostalgia in this place, and he was missing something, probably something to do with this place. He was probably missing the lust which every other guy seemed to enjoy in this place these days. But he seemed slightly lost and on edge, but she wasn't sure as to why. She knew him from class briefly, she didn't recall the two actually having a conversation though, but he was in her human anatomy class, and this was further confirmed when she noticed the anatomy textbook on the table in front of him. She smiled softly, it was good to see she wasn't the only one focusing on her studies around here. Though at least this guy wasn't receiving the emotions of the whole coffee shop, allowing him to study.

He seemed to keep to himself a lot, sort of like her. Except she had some friends, this guy just seemed to stick to himself all the time. It was rather puzzling, and made her wonder what had happened for him to be this way. She remembered that he used to be around other people, and seemed more 'chipper' but now that had changed. Obviously something had happened to change it. Was it impersonal of her to ask, or at least wonder? Wasn't like she could control her empathy senses anyway. "The class was pretty interesting today, don't you think?" She smiled softly as she looked up at the boy and down at his textbook, showing him that she knew he was in the human anatomy class. "Its a nice place to study...In here. This is me, getting a caffeine fix while studying. Only I'm not allowed caffeine, my parents would ground me for a week. But hot chocolate with marshmallows, call me rebellious!" She frowned softly, she was rambling and she probably just make this introduction even more awkward than it had to be. She was only talking to him because he was feeling some pretty strong things, and her vibes were always right. Maybe there was a way she could help him, or something? He seemed like he needed the help, but wasn't willing to ask.

Avery stared at the text in front of him, attempting to comprehend any of the words he was reading to himself. Maybe he should have just gone home right after school. Maybe then would he have had a quiet environment to study for the human anatomy test next week. No, that wouldn’t have worked either. Connor seemed to get home from work the same time Avery seemed to get home from school. And of course he’d want to ask Avery about his day just to try and be a good guardian and pretend like he cared what actually went on with Avery at school. Maybe he just wasn’t meant to study.

Avery looked up momentarily and was surprised to see the red head at the table a bit in front of him looking at him. For the life of him, he couldn’t pin point where he had seen her before, until she had mentioned something about his human anatomy class, and then it had clicked. Shoshana. One of the only students in his human anatomy class who he noticed ever turned in her homework on time. Avery nodded with a smile. ”Yeah definitely. Dr. Moldowsky really knows how to engage the class.” Avery chuckled, knowing full well that Dr. Moldowsky was one of the driest and most monotone teacher’s he had ever had to deal with. But she had been right. Today was somewhat interesting. They had learned about the functions of every single gland in the body.

Avery watched as she continued talking to him. He had never spoken to her before, but it was making him smile. She seemed to not be able to shut up, which would have been annoying if it were anyone else. But her rambling about pointless stuff was actually adorable. ”Eh, I’m starting to think that maybe ‘here’ isn’t such a good place to study.” Avery nodded towards a few couples in the coffee shop who seemed to be attached at the lips. ”It’s kind of distracting.” He shrugged. ”And besides, this place isn’t the quietest place to crack down and read over chapters, you know?” As soon as he said it, he regretted it. He didn’t want her to think that he was talking about her. ”I don’t mean you though.” He quickly added, which probably made the situation even more awkward because she would know he felt the need to say that. Goes to show how much he talked to people these days….pretty much never. "So, it's Shoshana, right?" he asked trying to change the awkwardness he had known was in the air.
